Happy Birthday Sweet S!

How we wish we could be with you to celebrate!  Even more, how we wish you were here with us.  We had hoped that this year you would find out you have a family by your birthday but it didn't work out that way.  We pray that you will feel special on this special day!  I had mentioned to a friend who is also in the adoption waiting game that we were hoping you would know you have a family, and she said that maybe your birthday wish is for a family.  We hope it was, and if it was, we are thrilled that your wish will come true!

We love birthdays in our house---a day to celebrate the uniqueness of the individual child and pamper them a little.  Our kids get the day off from school on their birthdays (a positive aspect of homeschooling!) and get to choose the meals they want.  We are wondering what you are eating today for your special day S---our understanding is that you will have some sort of celebration at your orphanage.  We had a little celebration here in honor of you, even sang Happy Birthday!  Ellie was hard at work first thing this morning blowing up balloons and starting the decorating process, and your two big sisters made cupcakes in honor of you.

We look forward to next year when we can pamper you on your 7th birthday---making you a cake that you get to choose the flavor and topping and celebrating your uniqueness!  Celebrating how fearfully and wonderfully you are made---

For we are God's masterpiece.  Ephesians 2:10 NLT

Sweet S, you are His masterpiece---a work of art uniquely created to be treasured.  Your name means "precious thing" or "treasure"--something we feel you are, and we can't wait to understand in deeper ways the depth of your preciousness.

We pray for you precious S on this special day--praying that you will be filled with joy, praying for your health and safety, and praying that God has placed someone in your life to watch over you and be the hands of Jesus to you until we can meet.  Praying that He will fill your heart with peace and love today.  And so thankful that this will be your last birthday in an orphanage!
